Which video sites does AnyVideo support?
AnyVideo accepts supported public video links in Chrome. The checks below record specific working examples. Access can change, and a successful video does not guarantee every URL on the same platform.
Recorded compatibility checks
| Source | Checked | Observed result | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public YouTube video | October 29, 2026 | 31:39 video completed in native Chrome using Process in browser; TXT and MD exports checked. | Separate active tab, optional YouTube permission; up to 60 minutes. |
| Internet Archive recording | October 7, 2026 | 10:37 public recording completed through server audio processing and speech recognition; exports returned text. | That public recording was checked; not a guarantee for all Archive items. |
Earlier YouTube caption extraction also worked in a recorded October 11 check. Server access later encountered platform blocking, so the current guide explains the optional browser path. These dates describe checks already performed, not a live uptime report.
Why “supported by the extractor” is not enough
AnyVideo uses yt-dlp for supported server-accessible sources. A platform can be listed by that extractor while a specific video still requires cookies, login, a paid account or regional access. The service does not inherit your browser login for its normal server path.
Vimeo, Kinescope, VK, Twitch and other extractor-listed platforms have not been reverified in this compatibility pass. Treat them as case-by-case inputs rather than tested platform guarantees.
YouTube browser processing
When a public YouTube source is blocked from the server, the panel can offer Process in browser. After your consent and permission grant, the extension opens a separate muted tab at 8× speed. Keep it active; switching tabs or windows pauses acquisition.
The browser path is limited to 60 minutes and 96 MiB of audio; the anonymous first transcript is limited to 10 minutes. This path sends source audio to AnyVideo and uses Groq for speech recognition. It does not record your microphone. Follow the browser-processing steps.
Sources that are not supported
- Private or login-only videos and paid course material that the service cannot access.
- DRM-protected media and links that require bypassing access restrictions.
- Local file uploads: the extension's normal input is a public video link.
- Visual-only content: transcription follows speech, not slides, on-screen code or silent demonstrations.
Check a link with a short first transcript
Choose a public video up to 10 minutes long that you are allowed to transcribe. If the source cannot be processed, the panel shows an error and reserved minutes are released. Save successful exports within 7 days.
